TattonPark is usually known for its rich history and abundant wildlife, but over the weekend of June 1-2 it became host to beasts of the metal kind. The Lancaster Insurance Classic and Performance Car Spectacular overwhelmed the parkland with thousands of vehicles and thousands more hungry enthusiasts, waiting to chomp at the classics on display.
Response to the event was overwhelming, with one visitor stating: “Great show, well organised and amazing cars, as always.” Among many of the highlights was the superb competition arranged by show sponsors, Lancaster Insurance, who were offering the chance for one lucky person to win a Mazda MX5! Paul Hudson, motoring editor of The Telegraph, was also in attendance and was there to judge the first ever Telegraph Choice Award which went to a well-deserved winner, Chris Boffey and his 1971 Saab 96 Estate. With over 2000 cars entering the historical grounds over the weekend, this was no small task to be taken lightly.
“It was a fantastic weekend at which thousands of car enthusiasts were welcomed to Tatton Park in Knutsford,” said Event Planner Andy Kitchen. “It was an amazing atmosphere with some truly amazing cars. New sponsor, Lancaster Insurance, had a great time and we’re looking forward to doing it all again at the biggest American Car Show in the UK, Stars and Stripes.”
Dave Youngs, Car Club Manager at Lancaster Insurance, comments: “We had a fantastic weekend at Tatton Park! The venue is stunning and it was incredible seeing the constant stream of classic and performance cars arriving at the beginning of each day, there were some real beauties! It was also great to meet our existing customers and showcase to a wider audience what Lancaster can offer classic car enthusiasts.”
